日本在住のイギリス人ミュージシャン、Dave Skipperと私が知り合ったのは偶然のことでした。たまたま私のライブを目にし、関心を抱いたDaveから後にメッセージをもらい、我々は横浜にて初めて出会いました。2023年の夏でした。

M1: この曲はその日に私が録音した横浜港の環境音をDaveがリメイクしたもの（彼自身のノイズサウンドを足したもの）に、さらに私がいくつかの電子音を足してエディットし直したものです。

M2: この曲は東京・高円寺のOriental Forceで私がライブ演奏した楽曲をリメイクしたもので、初めてDaveが私に目をとめるきっかけとなった思い出の作品でもあります。

It was pure chance that I met Dave Skipper, a British musician living in Japan. He happened to see one of my live performances, took an interest in me, and later sent me a message; we met for the first time in Yokohama. It was the summer of 2023.

M1: This track is based on ambient sounds from Yokohama Harbor that I recorded that day; Dave reworked them (adding his own noise elements), and I then re-edited them by adding a few electronic sounds for the final result.

M2: This track is a reworked version of one I performed live at Oriental Force in Koenji, Tokyo, and it’s also a piece that holds special memories for me, as it was there that Dave first took interest in me.

今回はこれまでの5年間に私が制作した電子音楽を中心に構成しました。内容としてはベスト盤のような感じかも。とくに1曲目の「Adrift」は2020年の私の処女作でもありとても思い入れが深いです。

Yuさんのレーベルから作品をリリースすることはとにかく私の夢であり悲願の一つだったのでめっちゃ嬉しいです。気楽に聴ける電子音楽なので、ぜひまずはご一聴ください。

最近はゆっくりと夜空を見上げることも少なくなった。星を眺めながら物思いにふけるような体験は、この忙しい現代においては自発的に行わない限りなかなか難しいものなのかもしれない。行き交う人々は皆、ただ虚ろに手元を光らせているだけだ。近くて遠いもの、星などいつでも見られる身近なものに思えて、なんと遠い存在だろう。それは音楽にも似ていると私は思う。音楽を作っていると常にそれは感じる。身近で、それでいて遠いもの…。

Lately, I’ve rarely taken the time to gaze up at the night sky. In our busy modern world, it’s hard to find the time to lose oneself in thought while gazing at the stars unless you make a conscious effort to do so. Everyone passing by seems to be staring blankly at the screens in their hands. The stars—something so close yet so far away—seem like something familiar that we can see anytime, yet they feel so distant. I think music is similar. I feel this way constantly when I’m creating music. Something so close, yet so far away…

眠れないときやなんとなくBGMがほしいときなど、のんびり聴けるものをと考え、まろやかな音に仕上げるよう心がけました。

This album features three ambient tracks that envision the world a thousand years from now.

I wanted something I could listen to casually when I can’t sleep or need some background music, so I tried to create mellow sounds.

ライブに参加するため訪れた東京のとある街で、私は終電を逃し帰れなくなり、冬だったが始発まで待機せざるを得なくなった。屋外の喫煙所でタバコを吸いながら、朝までの6時間、暇を持て余した。持っていたスマートフォンでそのときに録音した夜の街の環境音をこの曲では用いている。あの夜の酷い寒さ、そして街の灯りのことは今でも鮮明に覚えている。

While visiting a certain city in Tokyo to attend a live performance, I missed the last train home and was forced to wait until the first train, even though it was winter. I wasted six hours until morning, smoking a cigarette in an outdoor smoking area. I recorded the ambient sounds of the city at night on my smartphone and used them in this song. I still vividly remember the bitter cold that night and the city’s lights.
